The City of North Charleston, South Carolina, is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Chief of Police. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills who has a track record of partnering with the community. The successful candidate will be someone who can work successfully with diverse communities and someone who will expand upon the department’s current community engagement efforts. 

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business, social science, or another relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Candidates should have twelve to fifteen years of experience in law enforcement, including at least five years in management roles. Additional leadership education, such as the FBI National Academy, PERF's Senior Management Institute for Police, or the Southern Police Institute, is highly desirable.

 The salary range is $155,500 to $165,000. The salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience. The city offers an excellent benefits package, including disability protection.
