Salary and Benefits:
The anticipated hiring range is $110,000-$177,000. Salary will be determined based on experience and credentials. The City of Fayetteville offers a comprehensive benefits package, including the outstanding NC Local Government Retirement system with vesting after 5 years. There is a residency requirement to live within the city limits of Fayetteville or move within city boundaries within 12 months of appointment to this position.

Completion of North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program; Current certification from NC Criminal Justice Education Training and Standards Commission as a commissioned police officer or certification eligible within 30 days. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or greater and six (6) years of sworn law enforcement experience or an associate degree and eight (8) years of sworn law enforcement experience. At least three (3) years of the experience must have been in a supervisory role equivalent to a Police Sergeant or greater. Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate through the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
Management Preference:
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field and 6 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a Higher Education setting with a campus law enforcement agency. Completion of law enforcement leadership training such as the Supervisor Leadership Institute through FBI LEEDA or leadership / supervisor training through another reputable organization.

The Director of Threat Assessment and Case Management will oversee the university’s Workplace Violence program, coordinate the University Behavioral Concerns Team (UBCT) and conduct training, threat assessments and manage cases involving individuals posing an imminent threat or safety risk to the campus community. The threatening individual may be faculty, staff, student or other person who threatens a campus community member. Imminent threats from, or directed toward, faculty and staff will require close coordination with People Operations, Success and Opportunity (POSO) for access to assistance resources while student-related issues will be coordinated with the Dean of Students and their CARES Team. The Dean of Students CARES Team offers assistance to distressed students and connects them to the appropriate campus resources. The director supervises a Violence Prevention and Threat Management case manager and Youth Programs and Compliance coordinator.
Minimum Education/ Experience: Master’s degree in the area of social work, behavioral health, criminal justice or any other related degree and five years of post-graduate experience in higher education (or equivalent higher education experience).
Minimum of at least three years of progressively responsible experience in threat assessment and case management or a related field.
Minimum of at least three years of experience as a supervisor. Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational and administrative skills, including interpersonal, written, and verbal communication. Experience building strong teams and positive and effective relationships across campus communities.
